Let ’em pass you, it’s OK

When my two-year-old granddaughter stays with my wife and I, we always spend some time in the basement playing. I do the same with her big sister. Sometimes with both. One game that we play is running around in circles, around the futon. I run fast trying to catch them, or so that they could not catch me. One of those times, I slowed down a bit and the little one passed me. She was so excited and said with a big smile “I passed you grandpa!” So, starting then, I would not run as fast. Every time the little one passes me, she always says excitedly “I passed you, grandpa!” She really enjoys our little game, especially getting passed me. I always enjoyed it, but now I enjoy it even more. All I had to do was slow down a bit. I would imagine, if this was one of Aesop’s Fables the lesson could be: “Slow down, let ‘em pass you, it’s OK; going too fast you might miss out on something special!”
